Shinyori AU

Shinji laughed and poked the short blonde in the side.

"Hey." He said, his gaze softening slightly.

"Yo." She stated, adjusting her bag before casting her gaze upward. "How're you?" she asked, before yawning.

"I'm good. Tired." he replied casually, stretching a bit. "You?"

She remembered how late it was when Shinji managed to leave for his home.

"Yeah me too...." She began, lifting her hand to rub the back of her neck, "How much trouble did you get in?" She asked, concern flashing on her face before returning to its usual un-interested look.

Shinji waved his hand dismissively and walked into their class, "Don't worry your pretty little head over it"

She opened her mouth to protest but stopped....did he just call her pretty. Momentarily stunned, she stood in the doorway before snapping back to reality and caught up to him.

"Oi! How about no? Did you get in trouble? I mean, it WAS my fault. I deserve to know, don't I?" She asked, sitting down next to him, as usual, in the back of the class.

"Nah, I didn't get in trouble." He replied, sitting down as well, taking out a notebook and a pen.

"Oh... That's good then." She commented, following his example. Ahhh history. The one subject that Hiyori could totally bullshit without anyone noticing. Some people (read: her teacher) Thought she had a gift for it. She, on the other hand just thought that it was a bunch of dates and yucky old dudes who argued like school girls. It wasn't that difficult.

She mindlessly began writing down notes that were already printed up on the board.

"Oh, by the way." She started "Good luck getting this jacket back." She snickered as she continued to write.

Shinji glared a little, before smirking widely, "Don't tell me you like how it smells." He teased.

She glared at him. "No." She lied. "It's just.... comfy. Plus, I get ta hit people." She grinned before lightly slapping him with the excess sleeve falling over her hand.

Shinji laughed a little and poked the girl in the side, "Whatever you say, Shorty."

She grumbled something unintelligible at him, something along the lines of "shut up" before continuing to write. Being called 'shorty' was nothing new for her, as long as Shinji had enough sense to stray away from calling her "midget" they'd be golden.

Shinji laughed a little and went back to scribbling random things in his notebook. He was glad things were normal and not awkward between them. He had thought about all the different possiblilities and he really dreaded most of them. He didn't want to label eachother, not only would that be weird but a bit... not them. He prefered what they had.

Hiyori let her mind wonder while she took notes. What were they exactly? Hiyori was a bit confused, she was glad at the simplicity of their relationship, it was easy, like breathing. But were they official? The last thing H Hiyori wanted was a miscommunication between the two. "Oi." she gently nudged his side. She didn't want to cause that much of a disturbance and bring the teachers attention to them.

"Hm?" He grunted, a bit surprised by the interruption. He had seen her pensive expression so he wasn't expecting her to talk to him.

"So....do we need to talk?Like... About.... Us?" She cringed sligtly. She had never been one for romanticizing anything. But she was always a bit awkward when it came to showing her emotions...Other then anger obviously.

Shinji's eyes widened slightly, completely taken aback by the sudden question.

"Well....yeah." He replied. He did want to talk about them. He wanted to know what was allowed and what was going to change, though most of the changes are probably not going to happen by talking.

"Seriously? Well okay.... what're we supposed ta talk 'bout? I like ya, and for some demented reason ya like me." She frowned slightly in thought. She honestly had no idea where to begin. Matters of the heart were far beyond her

Shinji sighed and thought for a little, trying to remember everything he was questioning at night.

"Well, you brought it up." He replied, buying himself some time. Thought truthfully, he was curious as to what she wanted to know.

She pulled her eyebrows together in thought.

What WAS she expecting from this relationship? If she could even call it that... she was confused to say the least.

"Well... I know I did. And I asked you first!" She replied, racking her brain for anything she could really ask. They were... well they were different.

Shinji rolled his eyes, "You're the picky one here, not me." He countered.
